Dog friendly vacation offers open now

An offer on this board is a property telling us, in writing, that a set of dates is going cheaper than its ordinary figure, and telling us when that ends. That is the whole of it. We pass it on with both ends of the window written out, because a start date with no end date is not an offer, it is a mood.

Two are open. Both are self catering, both sit in the all-of-it answer, and both were on the site at their ordinary figure before the offer existed. If you want the trip itself described properly, the trip page is where that lives. This page only handles the money and the calendar.

Why nothing on this board moves

There is no counter running down the corner of your screen. There is no line saying four places left. There is no figure with a stroke through it next to a bigger one. Those three things are not accidents of design, they are pressure, and pressure is what you use when the offer cannot carry itself. If the dates and the figure are good, they are good on a Tuesday afternoon with nobody watching, and they will still be good tomorrow, which is exactly what the end date is for.

The struck figure deserves its own word. To strike a figure you have to assert that the higher number was real and was being charged, and in this part of the business that assertion is very often decorative. We publish one number per offer. If you want to know what the same week costs outside the window, the trip page carries the ordinary figure all year and always has. Compare those two yourself. That is a better test than any red line we could draw.

The count of remaining places is the same problem wearing a different hat. We do not hold inventory. We do not run properties, we do not own beds, and a property's booking sheet is a live thing that changes while we are on the phone to somebody else. Any number we printed would be a guess dressed as a fact. What we will tell you, when you ask, is what the property told us that morning, and we will say which morning it was.

An offer that changes your answer is not a saving

Every trip on this site is filed by how far your dog actually gets to come, and there are three answers: all-of-it, almost-all-of-it, and part-of-it. Somewhere in your reading you will have decided which of those you can live with. Most people who call have decided it before they say hello.

Here is the trap. The lowest figures on the site sit in part-of-it, because whole days on those weeks are closed to your dog and are usually city days. So a reduced figure will, sooner or later, tempt somebody who ruled out part-of-it into booking a part-of-it week because it is now the same money as the almost-all-of-it week they wanted. That is not a saving. That is paying less for a different thing.

We will say so on the phone. If you tell us you need every day open, and the offer in front of you is filed part-of-it, we will point at the closed days and read them to you before we talk about the figure at all. Two hundred dollars is a real amount of money. It is also, roughly, the price of one afternoon standing outside a building holding a leash and wondering why you booked this.

The reverse happens too and it is worth naming. An offer can put a week you had written off as too expensive back inside what you can spend, in the answer you actually wanted. That is the good case, and it is the only reason we keep a board at all. The test is simple enough to run in your head: with the offer applied, is this still the answer I came here for? If yes, it is a saving. If no, it is a substitution, and you should look at the ordinary figure on the week you actually wanted instead.

One more thing about timing. An offer window closing does not mean the trip closes. The week goes back to its ordinary figure and stays on the site, bookable, all year. Nobody is losing anything on the last day of a window except a discount, and a discount is not a trip.
