Post

Write in, and a person reads it

One person opens everything. Notes about something written wrong come first, ground that has changed comes second, and the rest is answered from the oldest letter forwards.

Desk hoursSunday to Thursday, 8:00 am to 2:00 pm, Central Time

The desk opens Sunday to Thursday between 8:00 am and 2:00 pm, Central Time. Post that arrives on Friday or Saturday waits for Sunday morning, and every letter is answered.

Nothing answers that number except a telephone on a table, and outside hours it records what you say. Coming in person achieves nothing, since the address is a single rented room.

What is answered first

  1. 1. Something written wrong. A wrong distance, a wrong sign, a wrong claim about where the shade falls. Handled the same week and printed as a dated fix inside the record.
  2. 2. Ground that has changed. A creek gone dry, a gate now locked, a trail rerouted, a sign replaced. This is what keeps records honest between walks.
  3. 3. A route worth walking. Especially one that works in August.
  4. 4. Reprinting a record. Usually yes, with a credit and a link. Ask first.
  5. 5. Anything else, in the order it landed.

Three things the desk cannot help with

  • Moving an animal anywhere. Not by air, not by road, not by arranging somebody else to do it. This journal has no part in that trade and no knowledge worth passing on about it.
  • Anything about an animal's health, fitness or documents. That is a qualified profession and this is a walking journal. The person who treats your animal is the person to ask.
  • Flights, fares, tickets and bookings. The look up hands trips to a separate company, and only that company can change or refund anything that follows.

Nobody ringing on behalf of this journal will ask you for a payment, a card or an account of any kind. There is no mechanism on this site that would ever require one.
