One of the most amazing advantages of pet sitting is the ability to visit expensive cities or countries around the world such as Hong Kong without paying for your accommodations. According to this article at Forbes, Hong Kong is one of the most expensive countries in the world to live, consequently among the top ones in Asia, but no doubt, definitely worth a visit!
Hong Kong has a mix of rich and expensive neighborhoods, the modern next to the traditional, asian and foreigners expats living and working together, some of the best restaurants in the world, bars, street markets… So much to do and to see! Totally worth exploring.
Most people can’t afford staying there for too long as the hotels are so expensive. However pet sitting allowed me to visit and to stay in Hong Kong for 2 weeks for free! All I had to do was taking care of 2 dogs in a yacht in Aberdeen Harbour!
Dog sitting in Hong Kong was an unique experience! Having the opportunity of staying in a brand new custom made yacht taking care of 2 small dogs in Aberdeen Harbour was something special. Who wouldn’t love to have the chance to stay overnight in a fancy yacht in Hong Kong?
The ‘difficult’ task was dog sitting 2 small cute sweet dogs. Both were 14 years old little grandmas and it wasn’t even necessary to walk them on the streets. Due to the hot weather, joint problems, health issues the dogs couldn’t leave the yacht. All they needed was company, a lot of love, cuddles and care. The rest of the time I was free to go sightseeing around Hong Kong!
Once there, I learned that for the yacht owner it was actually cheaper to have a custom made yacht built than buying an apartment in Hong Kong. The yacht was in my opinion, a perfect house anyway! Double deck with an amazing living room, a fully equipped kitchen, 2 bathrooms including one with bathtub, 2 bedrooms, a big office and laundry space. Once in there nobody couldn’t even tell that you were actually inside a boat. A luxury pet sitting vacation in Asia and definitely one of my favorites dog sitting experiences!
The fun part of the pet sitting was the task to get to the yacht. Arriving there was necessary to take a small boat taxi with an old lady speaking no English and my Cantonese was almost none! Explaining to her where to go was super funny. No words can describe how amazing was those 2 weeks, to see the traditional old style mixed Chinese influence mixed with the fancy side of the Aberdeen Harbour and Hong Kong.
One of the best dog sitting and ‘house’ sitting experiences I ever had and definitely one of the surprises and adventures that pet sitting around the world can bring!
